How to Stop Going Around in Circles in Your Business

I speak to a lot of interior designers who are going around in circles when it comes to growing their businesses.

πŸ‘‰ They’re spending the vast majority of their time working on client projects and feeling scattered and confused about what to do with the tiny slice of time they allocate to working on their business

πŸ‘‰ They're super reluctant to put their face to their brand - so their social media lacks the personality it needs to resonate with their audience.

πŸ‘‰ They’re not attracting the right people (or enough people) on a consistent basis.

πŸ‘‰ They're lost in the details - the journey they take clients on from finding them to hiring them, the admin, the figuring stuff out behind the scenes.

πŸ‘‰ They feel overwhelmed and under-confident when it comes to pricing and selling their services.

If this sounds familiar then here's what you need to do -

Take a deep breath.

And remember this one simple statement: BUSINESSES ARE BUILT ON HELPING OTHERS.

When you strip everything else away it all comes back to this one thing.

Your client has a massive problem - they are overwhelmed at the idea of their project, stressed out at the through of over-spending, terrified of making the wrong furnishings choices, and yet so desperately hoping to create a beautiful, comfortable home for themselves and the people they love most.

And you can help them!

πŸ‘‰ Are there things you need to put in place to make your business legal & efficient? Yes, of course.
πŸ‘‰ Do you need to pay attention to details? Absolutely.
πŸ‘‰ Do you need to do the internal work to make sure you have the resilience and confidence to sell your bespoke services at a premium price? 1000%.

But before all of that, you need to reconnect to why you're doing this.
And I don't mean the money.
I mean the desire to be of service to others.

In the day to day of running our business we tend to focus on the short term - which tile size, what paint finish, how many days shall I allocate for the installation? It’s easy to spend your days answering these important but - in the scheme of things - small questions. But soon days turn into weeks and weeks turn into years. And that’s it. That’s the sum of your life. So don’t let it go by without asking bigger questions - that lead you to the answers you need to create a better business, a more joyful, profitable, purposeful business, and ultimately a bigger and better life.

Because without this, you just won't have the motivation or energy to keep going on those days when it all feels overwhelming.

You will find yourself being distracted by what others are doing and constantly measuring yourself up against their success.

That’s the honest truth I’ve learned after literally hundreds of hours of coaching sessions and business consultations.

You need to connect to what's in your heart. You need to be clear on the real reason you're doing this. Then allow yourself to be supported with the strategic and mindset up-levelling that's going to take your creative gifts and service to others and see you properly rewarded for them.
